Rule of thumb

Twitter. Eine tolle Erfindung, meiner Meinung nach. Die Benutzung via Web ist nicht wirklich praktikabel - falls man Twitter überhaupt praktikabel nutzen kann. Für das Problem gibt es inzwischen Hunderte Twitter Clients. Meine Anforderungen sind unteranderem: Native App, Ressourcen schonend, Schön, Growl. Das schliesst natürlich alle plattformunabhängigen Apps aus.

Meine Favoriten sind Lounge.app und Bluebird.app. Zwei sehr schöne Twitter Clients. Beide Apps sind native, ressourcen schonende (Mac) Apps mit Growl Notifications. Zum Zeitpunkt des Vergleiches waren beide Apps in der Beta bzw. Test Phase.

Lounge.app (Version 0.4a)

Lounge.app ist das Gegenstück zur Lounge.app iPhone App. Bei dieser App gefällt mir besonders das Bedienkonzept. Außerdem gibt es eine Suche (für Hashtags, etc.) und In-Tweet Twitpic Vorschau. Twitpic Upload ist in Arbeit.

Bluebird.app (Version 1.0 Beta 1)

Bluebird.app gibt einem die Möglichkeit eigene Layouts für die Timeline zu gestalten. Ansonsten ist die App sehr aufgeräumt. Leider hat Bluebird.app keine Suche, sondern nur einen Filter für die eigene & aktuelle Timeline. Twitpic Support fehlt auch.

Mit dem neuen iPod Shuffle wurde auch iTunes 8.1 angekündigt. Heute Nacht war es dann auch soweit. Bin positiv überrascht.

Edit Mac OS X Snow Leopard unterstützt NTFS read & write. Leider hat Apple das write deaktiviert. Mit SL-NTFS kann man diese Sperre aushebeln. SL-NTFS benötigt kein MacFUSE! Außerdem sollte man NTFS-3G vorsichtshalber deinstallieren.

Mac OS X kommt leider nur mit NTFS read Unterstützung. Aus der Linux Welt kennt man für das Problem, NTFS-3G.

Für Mac OS X - Entschuldiung, OS X natürlich - gibt es einen Port dafür. Benötigt werden MacFUSE und das NTFS-3G Package von Erik. Dann einfach den Installer von MacFUSE starten, danach einen Restart. Jetzt den NTFS-3G Installer starten und wiederrum neustarten.

Jetzt werden NTFS formatierte Volumes wie gehabt sofort erkannt und im read-write Modus gemountet.

Im Hintergrund läuft ein ntfs-3g_daemon der sich vermutlich um’s mounten kümmert. Wenn ein NTFS Volume gemountet ist läuft noch ein ntfs-3g Prozess.

Das Disk Utility bietet, nach der Installation, die Möglichkeit Volumes mit NTFS zu formatieren.

defaults write com.apple.finder _FXShowPosixPathInTitle -bool YES

Diesen Codeschnipsel einfach per Copy&Paste in den Terminal.app und Return drücken.

Bitte beachten, dass hier Mac OS 10.5 vorrausgesetzt wird.
